No Beer, No Cheer As Fire Takes Poowong Pub

The cattle yards have gone, and now Poowong has lost its one and only drinking hole. As the hotel's 15-year-old kitchen-hand, Wade Thompson, mourned yesterday: "A town's not a town without a pub." Only a wrecked shell remains of the turn-of-the-century hotel in the South Gippsland
